Hi, I’m Mika, the designer and maker behind Makai Jewellery.

I grew up in Uruguay by the sea, where every woman in my family was an artisan. My mum ran a little craft shop overflowing with gemstones and shells, and that’s where my creativity first took root. By sixteen, I was experimenting with different materials and making my own pieces, following in their hands-on footsteps.

In Australia, I finally felt ready to make Makai more than a hobby. Now, in my cozy Manly studio, I let silver and gemstones take shape under my hands, weaving memories of home and the sea into every piece.

Each Makai design is carefully handcrafted in sterling silver to stand the test of time, every curve born from honest, hands-on work. Jewellery isn’t just an accessory for me, it’s a way to connect to the earth, to memory and to each other. I believe in simplicity with meaning, where a single clean line can carry a story that lasts.
