Jewellery Care

925 Sterling Silver is a precious metal that naturally oxidises over time. To preserve the integrity and finish of your handcrafted pieces, follow these essential care guidelines:

  • Avoid Chemicals: Remove jewellery before swimming in chlorinated pools, using cleaning products, or applying perfumes and lotions.
  • Storage: Silver oxidises when exposed to moisture and air. To prevent tarnish, never leave your jewellery in moist areas like bathrooms. Store your pieces in a cool, dry place. If you don't plan on wearing a piece for a while, we recommend wrapping it in a natural cloth or acid-free paper and placing it inside a sealed, airtight bag to minimise oxygen exposure.
  • Cleaning: To restore the shine and remove everyday oils, clean your jewellery using mild soap, warm water, and a super-soft toothbrush. Gently scrub the surfaces, rinse thoroughly, and pat dry with a soft lint-free cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that can damage the silver’s finish.
  • Protection:  While durable, 925 silver is a soft precious metal that can bend or scratch under pressure. To keep your jewellery in great condition for years, avoid wearing it during manual tasks such as gardening, gym sessions, or heavy household chores.

     Special Care for Opals
  • Protection: Avoid scratching by removing opal, especially rings, during gardening, sports, or manual labor.
  • Cleaning: Solid opal should be cleaned gently with mild detergent in warm water and a soft toothbrush or cloth. Avoid bleach, chemicals and cleaners.
Doublets may be wiped with a damp soft cloth and mild detergent, but should never be soaked or immersed.Never allow anyone to clean your opal in an ultrasonic cleaner, as the intense vibrations may cause cracking in a solid opal, and water penetration in a doublet.
  •  Storage:  Try to store the opal separately from other jewellery to protect it from scratches
